Misanthropy & Godlessness

I starting hearing about San Francisco’s At Our Heels around the time their album dropped – August 2010. I listened to a couple of songs, and really dug it. I remember being impressed about how nice the actual vinyl release looked. Unfortunately for me those two songs were all I would listen to…. until last week. I recently found out the band is streaming their entire album on their bandcamp. Enhance your review experience, and play the record while you read! There is a term I use to describe great aggressive music – teeth. Misanthropy & Godlessness has teeth. The record pulls no punches, but it isn’t wave after wave of abrasive sounds; the band definitely wrote the record to breath. They do a great job of taking quiet a few different aggressive genres, and blending them into what you hear today. Comparisons that naturally popped up in my head where The Hope Conspiracy & The Bled (PASS THE FLASK. I know some would deem this as an insult, but it’s not!) Some instant favorites where the opening track “Through Their Teeth”, “Sink With Me”, “Graves”, and the closing track (I think my favorite off the album) “Kicking Rocks”. At Our Heels is a band made up of very talented musicians, and are one of the few aggressive bands that don’t let the genre keep them in a box. Misanthropy & Godlessness is proof of that.

I am very excited to say the band will be doing some west coast dates this summer. You can stay up to date by regularly checking in at http://www.atourheels.com. If you haven’t already, now is the time to listen to the record at their bandcamp!
